Applied chemistry of functional materials and surfaces

Group Leader: prof. Ing. Jakub Siegel, Ph.D.

  • The research group focuses on the preparation, characterization, and application of metal nanostructures and nanocomposite materials. Particular attention is paid to noble metal nanoparticles and nanostructures, their controlled synthesis, surface modification, and combination with polymeric materials. Laser technologies, vacuum deposition methods, and combinations thereof are employed to prepare structured surfaces.
  • A significant area of research involves materials with antibacterial properties and their potential applications in biomedicine and tissue engineering. The group investigates the relationship between material structure, physicochemical properties, and biological response, aiming to develop functional materials with properties optimized for specific application
